THE WORLD IS SOUND TURNS 10!

What started out in December 2014 as a side-project of the SMASH Berlin dance program, has now become the centre of a voice-loving community and movement which is spreading the wisdom of the embodied voice into the arts field as well as everyday life. Allowing our many voices to exist and express, as a natural force that can heal our relationship to the world, bringing us back to a sense of simplicity and togetherness.

Our heart is in awe and humbled by the privilege of being able to share through this time our work and love for vocal music, we thank each of the around 1000 participants we met through 50 workshops and retreats in the past ten years, without you The World is Sound would still be a thought in the aether! And a heartfelt thank you to the amazing sound artists who have been sharing their knowledge as guest teachers/lecturers in our activities through these years. Thank you to (no specific order): Corinne Castelli, Rob Liethoff, Moss Beynon Juckes, Alessandra Eramo, Nina Wenhert, Florence Freitag & Lisa Stewart (eYe as a collecTive), Flora Nacer, Martina Datura Lo Conte, Christian Groethe, Jule Flierl.

To celebrate the 10 years of activity, Irena and Alessio will host 2 Spring Intensives in April 2024, with a 2-day Celebration Gathering in between, open to the TWIS Community and anyone who wishes to celebrate with us this first precious cycle of existence.
The 2-day Gathering is organized in collaboration with Lisa Stewart and Florence Freitag. There will be different offerings of guided somatic voice practices, CircleSinging, traditional melodies singing, as well short acoustic performances by some of the TWIS community members. Please read below for all the info about the weekend.

When: Sat 20.04 | 18:00-22:00, Sun 21.04 | 16:00-22:00

Where: Studio 2 - Behanienhaus, 2nd floor (right staircase after main entrance). Studio 2 is at Mariannenpl. 2, 10997 Berlin.

Doors open: the doors will be closed during each activity, and will open for 10-15 min in between each slot. Please see the program schedule for the exact opening times!

Entrance fee: there will be a suggested donation of 15€ (includes all activities for one day). Please note: no one will be turned away if they can’t afford the fee, however we ask for everyone’s full support to cover the space and organization costs for the event 💛🙏🏻

Kid-friendly: the activities are designed for adult participants, however you are very welcome to join with children too if you wish :)

Space: the studio has a limited amount of sitting cushions and mats, you are very welcome to bring your own yoga mat, cushion or blanket if you wish to stay cosy :)
